“This house is a gem! It is warm, comfortable, spacious and beautifully located close to the heart of Dartmoor. But most of all, it is a cosy house, and we enjoyed lounging by the wood fire after long hikes. Good pubs around: try the Cornish Arms! Annabel is a great host, discrete yet helpful. She provided us with free wood blocks for the fire. Highly recommended house! Good beds.”

“We had a most enjoyable stay in a fabulous ancient barn conversion on the family farm with family and friends. The accommodation was spacious, well-appointed and comfortable throughout. The property was in a great location for access to the southern moor as well as north towards Okehampton and only a 5 min drive from the authentic Peter Tavy Inn”.

“The cottage was beautiful and homely. The perfect place for a group of four old friends. The kitchen was well equipped for catering in and there were some excellent pubs serving food close by. There are some fantastic walks easily accessible from the cottage and the town of Tavistock a short drive away is an excellent place for coffee, tea and lunches.”

“Giles Cottage is a delight. Steeped in history and beautifully furnished, we loved our short break here. With a party of mixed ages including teens and a dog we found plenty to do. Beautiful moor walks, wild swims and historic villages, all close by. The shared grounds are spacious and immaculate, the summer house a great touch for a spot of table tennis or just taking in the tranquil views from a deckchair. The night skies are stunning, as is the pitch black silence. We can highly recommend a stay here, a peaceful haven.”

“Annabel’s house is honestly the English dream! We were amazed by this place. Slept comfortably, prepared meals in the beautiful big kitchen and played games at the dining room table. Nature, horses and friendly dogs right outside. Wonderful moment tip: Take your cup of morning coffee and sit in the morning sun on the little stone step outside the kitchen entrance. Huge recommend on this one!”

“We received a warm welcome from Annabel when we arrived. We loved Giles cottage, which we found to be very clean, comfortable and well equipped. It was perfect for our “sewing retreat”, with great pubs nearby, lovely walks and Tavistock just minutes away, with interesting shops and cafes, particularly “Aroma” cafe, which we visited twice.”

“We had a great stay at Giles Cottage- it was very spacious and had everything we needed. Our teenagers enjoyed the games room and playing football outside. Annabel was an excellent host, bringing us logs for a fire (in unseasonably cold July!) and even offering for the boys to watch the football semi final on a larger TV in the house!
The beds were so comfortable, and with the peace & quiet we all slept very well. Would definitely recommend!”
